Cub Scout Pack 280

Leaders Meeting

September 6, 2007

Webelo Woods:  The date has been changed from September 8 to September 15.

Water Fest:  Tomorrow, September 7 at Timber Creek beginning at 7:00pm.

Bring water guns and other water activities.  Check on launcher storage.

Melanie will post signs on Timber Creek doors and have announcement made if possible.

Popcorn Show-N-Sell:  Review dens covering scheduled dates.

Arrange to pick up popcorn from Dayla.  Scout popcorn is free of harmful chemical that has been in the news this week.  Military donations ($25) are available but a few forms may lack the column to note this.  Unsure if tax deductible, so advise people to consult their tax professional if asked.

Hot Dog Social:  On Sunday, September 16 at Kids’ Kastle in Highland Village.

Michelle will send out den food assignments.  Melanie will buy hot dogs, buns, brats, condiments, and paper goods at Sam’s.  James will run the grill and bring drink cooler.

There will be a cobbler cooking demonstration.

Pack Meeting:  On Thursday, September 20 at Trietsch.  Michelle reviewed den assignments.

·         Council mandates no more selling raffle tickets, so we will be changing to an incentive based raffle with small scout related prizes (ex:  compasses, mini-flashlights, etc.) instead of sweets.  Tickets will be earned for being on time, in uniform, attention, etc.

·         Den leaders will be recognizing scouts for most achievements since they primarily work with the boys.  Cubmaster will recognize ranks and camping awards.

Training:  James reviewed training schedule, refer to district website to register.

  • YPT and Quick Start are available online.
  • Complete Essentials and Specific as soon as possible for new leaders.
  • BALOO Training is on October 6, 8am-4pm.

Roundtable Meetings:  Change the Pack leaders’ meeting to first Tuesday at 6:30-7:30pm.

This will precede the Roundtable meeting so more pack leaders can attend at 7:30pm.

Advancements:  Submit to Sally by the Leaders meeting each month.

Family Campout:  Scheduled for October 19-21 at Hickory Creek.

Jay booked half of camp sites needed and Mark needs to call and book the other half.
